Trip
& Outdoor Activities
Each term, teachers in the English Programme organize group outings to
familiarize programme participants with the city’s cultural
offerings.
Some organized
group outings are
- touring the main branch of the New
York
Public Library
- touring the Museum of Natural History
- attending plays especially produced
for ESL
students at the Educational
Theater of
New York
- taking a literary walking tour of
Greenwich
Village, an area of New York City where many well-known authors have
lived (these tours are conducted by Pat Duffy and Mary Regan, two
native New Yorkers). At the end of the tour, participants are given an
opportunity to contribute what they wish to literacy projects supported
by the United Nations Staff 1%
for Development Fund
Teachers will
announce outings, but programme participants should feel free to
enquire about them as well.
