LOCATION: Suez Canal sector and later the Sinai peninsula

HEADQUARTERS: Ismailia

DURATION: October 1973 - July 1979

STRENGTH: 6,973 military personnel, supported by international and locally recruited civilian staff

FATALITIES: 55 (53 military personnel and 2 international civilian staff)

EXPENDITURES: $446,487,000

FUNCTION: Established to supervise the cease-fire between Egyptian and Israeli forces and, following the conclusion of the agreements of 18 January 1974 and 4 September 1975, to supervise the redeployment of Egyptian and Israeli forces and to man and control the buffer zones established under those agreements
