What is the Inter-Agency Meeting on Language Arrangements, Documentation and Publications?
The Inter-Agency Meeting on Language Arrangements, Documentation and Publications (IAMLADP) has the overall objective of enhancing the efficiency, quality and cost-effectiveness of conference, language and publishing services in international organizations.
Managers of conference services of all the organizations in the United Nations system attend the meetings, which are held for three or four days annually. Participants also include observers from many intergovernmental organizations that do not belong to the United Nations system, some national Governments and academic institutions involved in the training of translators and interpreters.
During the meetings, participants exchange information, share experiences, develop standards and guidelines, and harmonize and coordinate policies and actions. Topics discussed are clustered in three groups, namely, meetings planning and servicing, language services and publishing activities.
The annual meetings are chaired by the Under-Secretary-General of the Department of General Assembly Affairs and Conference Services, and the Department provides secretariat services for them.
