The World Summit on Trade Efficiency

          17-21 October 1994
          Columbus, Ohio USA

     Your Passport to World Trade

An unprecedented global event bringing together trade ministers, senior officials, CEOs, and mayors
from all parts of the world takes place this October in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

In the words of Warren Christopher, U.S. Secretary of State, this Summit "will allow leaders from
around the world to exchange views, policies, and practical information to prepare countries for
electronic commerce and tomorrow's world of the 'paperless' business transaction."

The historic signing of the Final Act of the Uruguay Round in April created the macro-economic
framework for a more open trading system.

However, for the benefits to reach the trading community at large, the micro-economic obstacles
must be removed! In Columbus, 187 nations will propose ways to make trade faster, simpler,
broader, and less costly--i.e. more efficient.

This Summit will increase global awareness of the opportunities and challenges created by new
technologies and the ways in which they are revolutionizing international trade.  These innovative
transaction techniques produce new trade links and substantial savings of time and money.

This event will also mark the official launching of the Global Trade Point Network --soon to be the
largest international network for trade.  (For details, see section on the Global Trade Point Network).

The Summit is comprised of four separate but interlinked parts:
