NEPAD Week at the United Nations Headquarters in New York,
7–10 October 2011
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the NEPAD Programme, the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa, the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) and the Department of Public Information are co-organizing the NEPAD Week at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Various events are scheduled for the period from 7 to 11 October 2011 during the 66th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

RECENT EVENTS :
On 18 October 2010, the Office of the Permanent Observer of the African Union and the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) co-organized a Briefing by African Regional Economic Communities (EAC, IGAD and SADC) to Member States, on their work, areas of strength, challenges and support needed from the international community.
On 11 October 2010, OSAA organized a briefing to Member States on NEPAD, with the participation of Mr. Cheick Sidi Diarra, Under-Secretary-General, and UN Special Adviser on Africa, Mr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, CEO of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency, and Mr. Eckhard Deutscher, Chair of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC):
On 20 September 2010, as a side event to the MDG Summit, OSAA in cooperation with UNECA and OECD organized the Launch of Two Reports – The 2010 Mutual Review of Development Effectiveness in Africa; and Africa’s Cooperation with New and Emerging Development Partners
On 2 July 2010, in conjunction with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) High-level Segment, OSAA co-organized a Ministerial Roundtable Breakfast titled “Economic Opportunities for the Empowerment of Women in Africa and LDCs: Access to Credit, Land, and Markets” with the Office of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS) and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). Participants included Ministers and high-level government officials, representatives of UN system entities and civil society. The meeting highlighted practical methods of ensuring the availability of services to women in least developed countries through innovative approaches to microfinance, formal banking systems, and national policies on women’s control over land, technology and markets.
On 10-11 June 2010, OSAA conducted consultations with Civil Society on the Comprehensive Review on the Causes of Conflict with a view to ensure that the views, insights, and recommendations of civil society organizations were adequately taken into account during the comprehensive review process and properly reflected in the final Report of the Secretary-General.
